March 2002: Camp Fox Boat Trip

On Friday, March 15, 2001, members of the Sioux North tribe joined the rest of the GA-Sioux Nation in attempting to go to Camp Fox. The following tribe members were able to attend: Laughing Bear and Shooting Star, Running Rabbit and Little Bunny, and Big Buck and Little Dear.

After standing around the Catalina Terminal for about an hour, we boarded the Catalina King for the trip to Catalina. We had ominous warnings from the captain that we might not make it across. Once we passed the breakwater, the seas got quite rough. About 3 miles past the breakwater, the captain turned the ship around, saying that he couldn't make it safely across. We were all very disappointed, but very glad to be safe. We returned to the terminal around 10:00 PM, and went back home.
