October 2000: Monthly Meeting at Thunder Cloud's

[October 2000 Meeting]The October Sioux North tribal meeting held at Thunder Cloud's house was very successful in that two of our new tribal member teams were present (Broken Wing and Beauty Pony, and Big Buck and Little Dear). This brings our total up to 10 girls and 9 dads.

The meeting was held to the subtle beat of neighboring hip-hop music. Crazy Horse did a great job captivating the attention of the tribe by reading a short story about an Indian and a snake. The girls then participated in a discussion about what the story meant. The girls also presented their scouting reports on neat and unique things about animals. We all learned about zebras and why they have stripes, cats and their various personalities, polar bears and the color changes of their fur, and giraffes with their long necks and black tongues. The girls did a great job presenting their reports and it appeared that they enjoyed doing it. The next scouting report will be to report on a star constellation and describe what it represents, looks like, and how you can identify it in the night sky.

Our next nation event is the Pilgrim Feast on November 11th at 5:00p at the North Valley YMCA and most of the tribe have already committed to going. This event should be a lot of fun with induction ceremonies to welcome our new members.
