December 1999: Granada Hills Parade

Girls on the truckThe Granada Hills Parade was attended by Chief Crazy Horse and Tiger Lily, Red Sky and Red Feather, Thunder Cloud and Golden Dove, and Standing Bear and Little Cub. The weather was beautiful for us to march down Chatsworth Avenue. We met by the Y truck provided by the Apache Tribe. The image to the right shows Little Cub, Red Feather, Golden Dove, and Tiger Lily on the truck, each holding their Silly String.

While waiting our turn to march in the parade, we were able to see other floats go by ahead of us. As Granada Hills High School went by ahead of us, they all commented on how cute and sweet our little "indians" appeared. Then, every father and daughter (who were packing) silly-stringed them.

Carrying the bannerWe marched to choruses of the famous theme song of the Y played by the Village People: "YMCA"! The dads and daughters carried our banner (the image to the left shows Standing Bear and Red Sky carrying the banner) and silly-stringed the standees who were watching the parade. The nation won first place in our category for the parade.

After our march, we got together at El Torito for dinner, and some uf us went back to watch the tree lighting.
