2002-2003 Granada Hills Holiday Parade
and Tree Lighting Program

Sponsored by the Apache and Arapaho Tribes

About the Event

The Granada Hills Holiday Parade is a tradition for the North Valley Program program and arguably one of the funnest events. The Guides and Princesses will get to ride a float in the parade, waving to their adoring fans. There will be music blaring (typically the often over-played, but now expected "YMCA" by The Village People), banners waving and silly string flying. It's a great day.

This year's theme is Holidays in Hawaii, so wear your wildest Hawaiian shirt under your vest.

Date/Time

Sunday, December 8, 2002. We are meeting at 1:00 PM. We are in position #46.

Cost

$5.00 (includes patch)

Registration

How to Register: For this event, please pay your chief. Chiefs will collect the money for the tribe, and need to turn in the tribe's payment at the parade to the YMCA staff.

Directions

The parade route runs down Chatsworth St. from Petit Ave. to Granada Hills High School just south of Chatsworth on Zelzah. Please click here for directions to the parade starting point. We are meeting on Petit Street, north of Chatsworth.

Float Decoration

Join us at the YMCA on Sunday, December 1, 2002 between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to help decorate the panels for our float.

What to Bring

  • Depending on the weather, jackets to keep warm. Wear a Hawaiian shirt under your vest.

  • Lots of Silly String (but no shooting it until you are on Chatsworth St.)

  • Tribal Banners

Additional Hints

  • Leave your cars at the end of the parade route (Granada Hills High School), and carpool to the start of the parade. It will save you the two (2) mile walk back!

  • Please be a gracious neighbor. While not on the official parade route, don't shoot your silly string. In particular, don't trash the houses at the staging area.
